Adding A Fireplace To Your Living Room
What would really jazz up your living room? Maybe a new lamp, some throw pillows, how about some new pictures decorating the room? That new desk you love. Or maybe you can talk your partner into that 57-inch HD television you always wanted? There are many things you can put in your living room to give it some new life and vitality. One thing that might not have crossed your mind, but should, is a fireplace. Or more especially one in the Desa International Fireplaces line.
Installing a fireplace is not as labor intensive as you might imagine. The reason for this is it's essentially a two piece installation. First you have one of your Desa International Fireplaces mantles, which you can affix to a wall rather easily. Once that is in place you get a simple gas fireplace system, install it inside the mantle, have the gas company put a hookup to the system and, wallah, you have a fireplace. No need for vents or a chimney as you're not burning wood, but instead clean, cinder-less natural gas.
The best thing about adding a fireplace, especially one that is easy to install, is that you have a variety of different options depending on the style and design of your room. Mantle wise, Desa International Fireplaces provides both modern and classic natural designs featuring such woods as cherry, oak and more. Try to find a color and design that matches the theme of your living room. Most fireplaces, especially those that are not built in with the house, are centered on a wall not containing a door. A mantle will typically run you between $200 and $700, depending on the size and style you decide on and where you buy it.

For the actual fireplace it's self, one of the most important things to keep in mind is that it needs to fit the mantle. If you get one of the 46 inch Desa International Fireplaces, don't expect to have it fit in a 32 inch mantle. It may seem basic, but it's an easy thing to forget. Most fireplace systems come in black, which means that they go with pretty much anything. Remember, putting in a fireplace is as much about style as it is about practicality. You'll typically only use a fireplace a few month's out of the year, but it will be in your room year round. Plan accordingly. |
